Meat Katie, one of Australia’s favourite imports is currently preparing to bring his blend of tech-funk to the land down under. Always a crowd favourite, the man other wise known as Mark Pember will be doing shows across Australia in August. His DJ show will take us on a journey into the deep and dirty underbelly of techno, breaks and tech-inspired house. Get your dancing shoes out and prepare for a hot and sweaty session with Meat Katie, one of the dons of the dance floor.

It’s begun. The battle for DJ supremacy has commenced and the competition has been ferocious as ever. The 2008 DMC World DJ Championships are in full flight thanks to TDK Life On Record, DUB Clothing, Technics, Ortofon, Video Hits and www.inthemix.com.au .

On a chilly Thursday night in NSW, reigning champion DJ Skoob stepped up to the decks to take out his NSW title. A clear winner on the night, Skoob was nevertheless pushed by DJ Typhonic and DJ What? who cut and juggled their way to second and third respectively.

In the most anticipated VIC final in recent history, DJ B.2wo demonstrated why he is looking like current Australian champ DJ Perplex’s greatest threat to the Australian title. On the night DJ Osyris was also well received finishing in second place. With the competition tight all evening, local favorites DJ Elev8 and DJ Crusador tied for third place.

With three state finals down and three more to come in WA, ACT and QLD, the action across Australia is really heating up before the National Championship in September.

Two amorphous aliens are cruising the galaxy in search of freaky ho’s. They fly in a spaceship complete with ‘Ho-Dar’ and sport the latest pimp gear. They’ve picked up signals and are about to dump a mother load full of bass and beats on y’all with their album ‘Feeling Good, Looking Nice, Smelling Right’.

The Body Snatchers are 30Hz and Baobinga, two producers with alien alter ego’s that have taken over the dials of their UK headquarters, producing some of the finest hip-hop/electronic hybrid sounds to come out of 2008. Their debut album ‘Feeling Good, Looking Nice, Smelling Nice’ is a sonic attack on freaky-ho filled dance floors everywhere. With a backbone of African tribal beats and hip hop percussion, the album has enough firepower to take down a mother ship. The debut single ‘Big Ass Miniskirt’ is an anthem of bouncing beats and grinding bass lines, layered with the kind of squishy popping noises you’d expect from an alien sound lab.
