Tell us about the first time you were really inspired by music?
The first time I was really inspired by music? I don't remember a specific time, it just seemed to be like breathing.. However, as a teenager I was totally taken by electronic stuff, Kraftwerk etc. Also Joy Division, New Order and the whole Ska revival blew my mind! I grew up in rural Ireland, everyone played music or sang... it was part of life..
What do you consider to be your greatest skill?
Talking
Name two albums you keep very close to hand
The Specials - more Specials Henryk Gorecki - symphony of sorrowful songs The road to musical success is often long and hard. Any advice for those out there, who want to jump in the same boat as you?
I'm still on the road baby! Come along for the ride but don't expect it to be cushy! Fact is, if you are making music that you can listen to over and over again and can be proud of, then that is ALL that matters. Make the right causes and the rest will follow.. concentrate on the tunes, make them the best you can make them. Everything else flows from that.
Have you ever come to a point that you thought you might pack in your music endeavours and get a day job? What made you decide to continue on?
Nope, like I said, it's like breathing. Who inspires you? (both in life and in music)
Everyone
What elements do you think make up a good track?
It has gotta have da funk, a good bassline and a melody that is unexpected.
Do you prefer performing live or recording? Why?
I like aspects of both but I am most happy in a studio building the tunes up and mixing them etc.. Then playing them live, whilst it is truely satisfying can sometimes be difficult for me, it is very immediate (which is great) but it is also such a big effort for sometimes little gain.. However, having said that, if you can spread some happy vibes and get people dancing then it is worth it...
How has your work changed and developed from the earlier stages of your career?
Matured, broadened and gotten more ruthless about what I actually let past the gates..
If you could pick 1 artist dead or alive to work with, who would it be? Why?
Mozart - I think he would be a funny guy...
Tell us a quirky fact about yourself no one else knows!
I have a deaf ear
If you could have two wishes come true what would they be?
World Peace through the individual transformation of all people a worldwide end to the destruction of forests
Before you step on stage for a gig, what do you do to prepare?
get nervous
What do your parents think of what you do? Have you ever taken them along to a gig?
My parents don't know.. they think I am a secret agent working undercover in far flung places.
What has been your greatest achievement to date?
Continuing to create music and enjoying it If you could be remembered for one thing, what would it be?
My music
What is your best hang over cure?
I don't know.. I never get hangovers.. I am so lucky! Oh yeah.. I know.. drink a pint of water in one go before you go to bed.. guaranteed to help.
Do you get anxious or nervous before you perform? If so how do you calm your nerves?
