RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY – BARCELONA, SPAIN 2008 Date: 05/05/2008

Established in 1998, the Red Bull Music Academy has emerged as the pre-eminent gathering of DJs and music producers in the world. A creative and cultural exchange of music ideas, the Academy teams established artists with the worlds best up and coming talent in two 12-day semesters of hands-on workshops and discussions about how life in the music industry really goes down. 2008 sees the Academy head to Barcelona, Spain.

The Red Bull Music Academy invites a variety of accomplished international guests from around the world to share their knowledge and experience; everyone from industry movers and shakers, to pirate radio station operators, turntablists and sonic theorists. All are on hand to meet students and tell their own stories in their own words. Structured in two fortnightly terms, 60 music enthusiasts are flown in from around the world all expenses paid, to share, learn and have an absolute ball, all the while exploring and absorbing influence from the host city and its musical scenes

A unique experience and one the Red Bull Music Academy hopes will last a life-time, the Academy has been set up first and foremost to provide attendees with an opportunity to broaden their musical horizons, gain knowledge into the industry and create invaluable networks with fellow artists across the globe. The philosophy is simple: the best of music, past & present, from around the world, under one roof, getting down just for the funk of it.

Resin Dogs announce ‘More’ tour Date: 05/05/2008

The time has finally arrived. Following the critical acclaim of their latest album ‘More’, the Resin Dogs are currently on the road in the middle of an explosive 28 date national tour that’ll see them drop their party-starting brand of soul-drenched, funk-infused hip hop right in towns and cities right across Australia. With a full live show incorporating keys, guitar, drums and bass, the Dogs will be joined by N’FA and DNO MC on the mic, with DJ Katch manning the ones and twos. Supporting the Resin Dogs on tour will be Australian DMC legend Dexter, will be blessing the stage with his masterful DJ wizardry and getting the crowd hyped and DJ Vadim’s live MC BluRum 13, who plays a select number of shows.

Enigmatic yet prolific, Japanese stalwart DJ Krush is set to bless Melbourne punters with his special blend of crossover magic on Friday 23rd May at Prince Bandroom. A gifted DJ and producer, Krush’s style began developing with preeminent Japanese hip hop outfit KRUSH POSSE in the late 1980’s. After the break up of the band in 1992, Krush went solo – as one of the first in Japan to use turntables as live instruments Krush grabbed people’s attention quickly and his career soared. Since then he has released 8 solo albums and 3 DVDs plus worked with some of the biggest in the biz including James Lavelle, DJ Shadow, Guru, Aesop Rock and tones of other heavyweights.

Back in Melbourne to celebrate the release of his brand new DVD ‘A History of DJ Krush: Ko-No-Michi’ Krush will be supported by Wellington based Electric Wire Hustle, THIEF (Gsan) and Paz..
